{"id":14537,"date":"2022-03-03T15:02:53","date_gmt":"2022-03-03T04:02:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mvec.mcri.edu.au\/?p=14537"},"modified":"2022-03-03T17:30:41","modified_gmt":"2022-03-03T06:30:41","slug":"clinical-recommendations-for-covid-19-vaccines-updated-booster-advice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mvec.mcri.edu.au\/hi\/clinical-recommendations-for-covid-19-vaccines-updated-booster-advice\/","title":{"rendered":"Clinical recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines- updated booster advice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) have provided updated recommendations\u00a0\u200bon\u00a0the use of\u00a0booster\u00a0doses of COVID-19 vaccine\u200bs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Individuals aged 18 years and above are recommended to receive a single booster dose of either mRNA vaccine (<a href=\"https:\/\/mvec.mcri.edu.au\/references\/pfizer-biontech-covid-19-vaccine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pfizer<\/a> \u092f\u093e <a href=\"https:\/\/mvec.mcri.edu.au\/references\/moderna-covid-19-vaccine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moderna<\/a>), 3 months after the completion of a primary course of vaccination.<\/li>\n<li>Individuals aged 16-17 years are recommended to receive a single dose of Comirnaty (Pfizer) as their booster, 3 months following the completion of their primary course. Alternate COVID-19 vaccine brands are not registered for use as a booster dose in this age group.<\/li>\n<li>Whilst <a href=\"https:\/\/mvec.mcri.edu.au\/references\/novavax-covid-19-vaccine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u0928\u0941\u0935\u093e\u0915\u094d\u0938\u094b\u0935\u093f\u0921 (\u0928\u094b\u0935\u093e\u0935\u0948\u0915\u094d\u0938)<\/a> is not TGA-registered for use as a booster dose, ATAGI recommends that it may be used as a booster in individuals aged 18 years or older\u00a0in\u00a0circumstances where there is a contraindication to mRNA vaccines. There is limited safety and efficacy data to support the use of Nuvaxovid as a booster dose, however there are no theoretical concerns.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mvec.mcri.edu.au\/references\/astrazeneca-covid-19-vaccine-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u0935\u0948\u0915\u094d\u0938\u091c\u0947\u0935\u094d\u0930\u093f\u092f\u093e (\u090f\u0938\u094d\u091f\u094d\u0930\u093e\u091c\u0947\u0928\u0947\u0915\u093e)<\/a> is no longer recommended for use as a booster dose.
