{"id":22171,"date":"2025-08-14T16:21:35","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T06:21:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mvec.mcri.edu.au\/?p=22171"},"modified":"2025-09-25T17:28:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T07:28:06","slug":"national-immunisation-program-changes-pneumococcal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mvec.mcri.edu.au\/vi\/national-immunisation-program-changes-pneumococcal\/","title":{"rendered":"National Immunisation Program pneumococcal changes: Prevenar 20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">From 1 September 2025, Prevenar 20 will replace Prevenar 13 <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">V\u00e0 <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pneumovax 23 on the childhood and adolescent National Immunisation Program (NIP) schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Routine doses are scheduled at 6 weeks, 4 months and 12 months of age, with an additional dose given for higher risk children at 6 months of age or at diagnosis of the at-risk condition. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">There is no need to recall a person for \u2018catch-up\u2019 if they have already completed their full course of pneumococcal vaccination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Prevenar 20 is a conjugated vaccine that protects against the bacteria <em>Ph\u1ebf c\u1ea7u khu\u1ea9n<\/em>.
