The statement also clarifies that the rare blood clotting condition that has been linked with the use of AstraZeneca\u2019s vaccine in some groups \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/mvec.mcri.edu.au\/references\/thrombosis-with-thrombocytopenia-syndrome\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Huy\u1ebft kh\u1ed1i v\u1edbi H\u1ed9i ch\u1ee9ng gi\u1ea3m ti\u1ec3u c\u1ea7u (TTS)<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 can now be treated effectively.<\/p>\n<p>The latest release also confirms that the risk of TTS is not likely to be increased in people with the following conditions (and that over-50s in these groups can still get vaccinated with AstraZeneca):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>History of blood clots in typical sites<\/li>\n<li>Increased clotting tendency that is not immune mediated<\/li>\n<li>Family history of blood clots<\/li>\n<li>History of ischaemic heart disease or stroke<\/li>\n<li>Current or past thrombocytopenia (low platelet count)<\/li>\n<li>Those receiving anticoagulation therapy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Furthermore, the ATAGI\/THANZ statement also reports that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reactions\/coronavirus-vaccine-summary-of-yellow-card-reporting\">UK data<\/a>\u00a0suggest the risk of TTS is much lower following a second dose, with only 15 cases reported to date out of nine million administered, translating to an estimated rate of 1.7 cases per million doses.<\/p>\n<p>Please refer to the article and statement in full in the following link:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www1.racgp.org.au\/newsgp\/clinical\/australian-authorities-update-side-effect-advice-o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RACGP &#8211;
