<\/div><\/span>, as well as targeted vaccine pro<\/span>grams such as <\/span>mpox<\/span><\/a> V\u00e0 <\/span>COVID\u2011<\/span>19<\/span><\/a>.<\/span> It was<\/span> established<\/span> in 2014<\/span> by the <\/span>Trung t\u00e2m Nghi\u00ean c\u1ee9u v\u00e0 Gi\u00e1m s\u00e1t Ti\u00eam ch\u1ee7ng Qu\u1ed1c gia (NCIRS)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0with <\/span>fund<\/span>ing from<\/span> the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged<\/span> Care<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

An adverse event following immunisation (AEFI) is any untoward medical occurrence that happens following the administration of a vaccine. It can be coincidentally associated with immunisation, without necessarily being caused by the vaccine. Common side effects from vaccines are usually mild and short\u2011lasting. Severe side effects are rare.<\/span><\/p>\n

Purpose<\/h2>\n

Monitoring vaccine safety <\/span>during development<\/span><\/a> V\u00e0 <\/span>post\u2011licensure adverse event surveillance<\/span><\/a> are important ways both to ensure safe vaccination programs and to maintain community confidence in vaccines.<\/span><\/p>\n

AusVaxAn to\u00e0n<\/span> monitors de-identified data using <\/span>software programs<\/span> such as <\/span><\/span>SmartVax<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> V\u00e0 <\/span><\/span>Vaxtracker<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> gather information directly from v<\/span>accinees and carers via SMS\/email <\/span>to rapidly detect <\/span>possible vaccine<\/span> safety signals<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
