Currently, 5 out of 6 WHO regions are certified free of wild polio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Despite the progress, there is still a way to go and although it is rare, cases of wild or vaccine-derived strain can become emergent in polio-free regions, including those countries that have not seen cases of polio for decades.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">This demonstrates the importance of ensuring that every child is protected through immunisation. A fully immunised population is protected against both vaccine-derived and wild poliovirus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\u8bf7\u70b9\u51fb\u4ee5\u4e0b\u94fe\u63a5\u9605\u8bfb\u5168\u6587\uff1a<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.euro.who.int\/en\/health-topics\/communicable-diseases\/poliomyelitis\/news\/news\/2021\/10\/world-polio-day-2021-highlights-progress-and-ongoing-commitment-to-end-polio-everywhere\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>World Polio Day 2021 highlights progress and ongoing commitment to end polio everywhere \u00a0<\/u><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There\u2019s been incredible progress in the efforts to eradicate polio everywhere.
