OPTIONS XII for the Control of Influenza: Abstract submissions open

OPTIONS for the Control of Influenza is a global scientific meeting with a dedicated focus on influenza. OPTIONS XII will be held in Brisbane from Sunday 29 September to Wednesday 2 October 2024.

Highlights of this year’s conference include focuses on:

  • Pacific Island and First Nations health
  • Interdisciplinary science
  • Knowledge exchange and networking
  • Policy and advocacy.

Abstracts submission is now open. Abstracts must be submitted by Friday 5 April 2024.

Save the date – MVEC will be holding an Immunisation Skills Workshop in Melbourne on Friday 15 March 2024.

More details about the workshop, including information about the program and tickets, will be made available closer to the event. Registration will open in early February.

Immunisation Coalition: 25th Annual Scientific Meeting

The Immunisation Coalition will hold its 25th Annual Scientific Meeting from 4 to 5 February 2024.

The meeting will be held in Melbourne and online, and will be chaired by A/Prof Lou Irving from the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

CDIC 2024: Call for abstracts

The Communicable Diseases & Immunisation Conference (CDIC) 2024 will be held from 11 to 13 June 2024 in Brisbane. The CDIC is now accepting abstract submissions for presentations, until Friday 23 February 2024.

The theme of the conference is “Protecting communities: Empowering health through disease control and immunisation”.


NCIRS: Recording of Shingrix webinar now available

The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) has recently uploaded recordings of presentations from its recent Shingrix webinar, held on 7 November 2023. 

Leading experts presented on: 

  • the disease burden of shingles in Australia  
  • details about Shingrix  
  • the new Australian Shingrix vaccination program  
  • the US experience of implementing a national Shingrix program.

Immunisation Coalition: Webinar – Shingles

The Immunisation Coalition will be hosting a shingles (zoster) webinar on Wednesday 15 November 2023 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm (AEDT).

The webinar will feature A/Prof John Litt with Dr Andrew Minton as moderator, and will cover topics including zoster epidemiology, changes to the National Immunisation Program (NIP) schedule and current trends in vaccination rates.

The 2023 CVU – what’s next?

Immunisation Coalition: Immunisation for health and life meeting

This weekend on 7 October, the Immunisation Coalition will host the inaugural Immunisation for health and life meeting.

The hybrid event is designed for GPs and nurses who immunise against infectious diseases, and includes keynote presentations, rapid fire presentations, workshops and panel discussions.
