Immunisation Coalition: 2023 Shingles webinar

The Immunisation Coalition will be hosting the 2023 Shingles Webinar on 15 November.

The webinar will provide an update on shingles epidemiology, changes to the National Immunisation Program (NIP) schedule and current trends in vaccination rates. The webinar features A/Prof John Litt with Dr Andrew Minton as moderator.

Aotearoa New Zealand Immunisation Conference 2023 and pre-conference Workshop

The Immunisation Advisory Centre (IMAC) will hold a one-day workshop followed by a two-day conference from 15 to 17 November 2023. 

The conference (16–17 November) will feature a range of vaccine-related topics, including: 

  • immunisation programs and policy 
  • maternal vaccination 
  • vaccination in the Pacific Island and NZ Pacific communities 
  • communications, countering misinformation and vaccine safety 
  • learnings, connections and supporting undeserved groups 
  • new vaccines and vaccine technologies. 

The pre-conference workshops (15 November) is aimed at people providing and supporting immunisation services. National and international vaccine program content will be relevant to vaccination practice in New Zealand.

2023 SA Vaccinology Conference

The 10th annual SA Vaccinology Conference will be held on 3 November 2023. 

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘The Future of Vaccines’. Led by Prof Helen Marshall, 2022 SA Australian of the Year and professor in vaccinology at the University of Adelaide, the conference brings healthcare professionals together to hear the latest research and policy updates related to immunisation in Australia.

CVU: Tickets now on sale

Tickets are now available for the 2023 Clinical Vaccinology Update (CVU). This year’s CVU will be held on 30 October at the University of Melbourne. 

Earlybird tickets are on sale until 15 September.

NCIRS: Webinar – Vaccination for people with disability

The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) is hosting a webinar on vaccination for people with disability, to be held on Friday 22 September 2023 at noon. 

Leading researchers and clinicians will present on: 

  • vaccine coverage and vaccination service gaps for people with disability 
  • ways to support vaccination of patients with complex needs, including patients with intellectual and development disabilities and those with needle fear 
  • new NCIRS resources to support healthcare providers in vaccination.

Immunisation Coalition: Recording of Allan Cripps memorial webinar

The Immunisation Coalition has uploaded a recording of the recent Allan Cripps memorial webinar on invasive pneumococcal disease, held on 10 August 2023.

The event aimed to highlight Professor Cripps’s key achievements and to shed light on advancements in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of pneumococcal disease.

The panel featured MVEC Director Nigel Crawford along with Dr Sarah Chu, Professor Robert Clancy, Professor Katie Flanagan and Dr Sanjay Jayasinghe.

In honour of the late Professor Allan Cripps, the Immunisation Coalition will hold a tribute webinar on Thursday 10 August from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. 

The event aims to highlight Professor Cripps’s key achievements and to shed light on advancements in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of pneumococcal disease.

Asia-Pacific vaccine research seminar series: Tuberculosis webinar

A free webinar on the topic ‘Why do we need a new tuberculosis vaccine’ will be held today, 27 July 2023 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. 

The webinar is chaired by Professors Steve Graham and Fiona Russell, and features speakers Dr Trisasi Lestari, Professor Nigel Curtis and Professor Jamie Triccas.

NCIRS: Recording of HPV in 2023 webinar

The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) has recently uploaded recordings of presentations from its recent HPV in 2023 webinar, held on 5 May 2023.

Leading researchers presented on:

  • the HPV vaccine and its impact in Australia and globally
  • a roadmap for cervical cancer elimination in Australia and our region
  • changes to the Australian HPV vaccination schedule and their implications
  • initiatives designed to maintain high levels of HPV vaccine coverage.
