MVEC has recently updated its Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ immunisation recommendations reference page to reflect the 1 July 2026 changes to the adult pneumococcal vaccination schedule.

First Nations Australians are recommended and funded to receive one dose of Capvaxive from 25 years of age.

The page includes an updated summary table of the vaccines prioritised for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals under the National Immunisation Program and jurisdictional programs. The summary table has been simplified and is now ordered by age, then jurisdiction.

MVEC: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ immunisation recommendations

MVEC acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands on which we live, work and educate. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
We are committed to honouring Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas.
